SEL & WELLBEING

EMBRACING SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL LEARNING (SEL)

At The Priory, we pride ourselves on providing an educational experience that nurtures the whole child. This holistic approach includes teaching and modeling Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) school-wide. SEL helps students acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions, show empathy, build supportive relationships, and make responsible decisions.

Recognizing the importance of SEL, our Tuesday assemblies focus on social well-being and leadership, led by our SEL Coordinator, Mr. Karl Mercuri. These sessions, tailored to the specific needs of our students, are divided into groups for junior and senior students.

By integrating Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) into our curriculum and school culture, we create an environment where every student grows emotionally and socially, developing the skills necessary for lifelong success.

THE BENEFITS OF SEL

Developing Healthy Identities: Students learn to understand and appreciate their unique qualities, building a strong sense of self and confidence.

Managing Emotions: Through SEL, students acquire techniques to identify and regulate their emotions, leading to better mental health and resilience.

Empathy and Compassion: Our SEL program emphasizes the importance of feeling and showing empathy for others, fostering a compassionate school community.

Building Supportive Relationships: Students practice skills to form and maintain healthy, supportive relationships with peers and adults, essential for personal and academic success.

Responsible Decision-Making: We guide students to make thoughtful, responsible decisions that consider the well-being of themselves and others.
